25 Days of Giving

In 2011 I got this idea. To give once a day every day for the 25 days leading up to and including Christmas Day. I would dub it “25 Days of Giving” and blog about it daily (a feat in itself if you’ve been following this here ol’ blog).

I thought blogging about my adventure might inspire others to give where they can, but admittedly it was mostly a selfish thing to motivate me and me alone to give more. And to hold me accountable to accomplishing my goal.

But I wasn’t sure where to start. I even thought about chickening out because it seemed like an awful big commitment to make and I just wasn’t sure I’d be able to do it. That was until I received news that an old friend from high school had lost her battle with cancer. She was only 29.

Now I knew where to start. My first day of giving came in the form of a donation to honor an old friend that had a gorgeous smile and a kind and gentle way that will never be forgotten. I donated to one of her charities of choice: St Jude’s Children’s Hospital and the Harford County Humane Society.

And then I did it again. And again and again and again. I donated (and blogged about donating) every day for 25 days. I attempted to get a little creative, like the time I added some of my favorite local businesses to Google and gave them good reviews here. But there were also days when all I could do was drop off a clothing donation.

I created this page in order to list all of the days here. I also created it to let you know, if you want to join me, I will link to your blog from here. (You don’t have to blog to participate! My cousin is posting her giving on her Facebook page.)
