Fourth of July Beach Trip
Well Rodney did it again, he saved us from boredom. Last week we headed to OC MD to celebrate the 4th of July with my family. My sister’s family flew in from Atlanta so I got to hang out with my little niece
We left on the 4th and went straight here once we arrived:
It was packed. And hot. The sand was so hot it burned your feet. It was totally worth it though. We’re less than four hours from the Atlantic Ocean, how could I not take advantage of that?
While the Atlantic is awe-inspiring, we spent the night on the bay. Ocean City sets off fireworks in a few locations for the 4th, one of them from North Side Park. My sister’s in-laws happen to have a place with a front row view of the show.
See the arrow in that pic? The fireworks are set off from that pier. Here’s what it looks like on my camera’s zoom:
That’s how close we were. I am spoiled for all future firework shows. It literally looked like the show was put on just for us.
I can’t say enough how amazing the display and our viewing spot were.
We were so close we could see all of the smoke. And the fire as they launched.
The rest of the week flew by as vacations do. There were no waves this time so the hubs didn’t get any surfing in, but we did get a lot of eating out in. Harpoon Hannah’s, Bull on the Beach, and most importantly: Fisher’s Popcorn, one of the four main food groups of OC MD. The others are Thrasher’s fries, Dumser’s ice cream, and Candy Kitchen, according to the guide I created for the renters of my parent’s condo when I was in middle school.
I must be getting old. I can only manage to eat at one of these places per trip these days.
How was your holiday?

I once had the same wonderful view of fireworks but at VA Beach.
Also, you teased us saying your niece and family were there but no photos of them!
Next time you go to OCMD, I’m begging you to bring back caramel corn for me
Sorry! I generally try to stick to only posting pics of people that I know will be OK with being on here. Which is why it’s typically only pics of me and the hubs
Oh I bought a small container of Fisher’s fully intending to bring it in to work to share. I may have eaten it all on the way home. Lesson learned. Next time buy two tubs.
Another tease!!
You are so right-we had the best seats to view fireworks. Well, except for when Dad, the neighbors, friends, Aunt Kathy, your cousins, my dad and uncles set off fireworks. Of course, it was nice not to worry about the police showing up to stop our “private” fireworks show.
Yeah – how did you let them get away with that! I remember being so worried and I was just a kid!
