“Psst! She’s been four-timing on her blog!”

May 5, 2010

Dear Blog, I’ve been cheating on you. I’m sorry, it’s sad but true. And there’s an excuse. There’s always an excuse. I know you’ll come around. They always do.

First, there was the writing class. It started around March but it’s over now. I promise. Ironically, the teacher asked us to write every day, about anything we wanted, yet I still neglected you. It was through York College’s community education program. The teacher, Brian Keene, is an incredibly popular horror writer with something like 37 pieces of work published, 15 of them novels.  Not really my genre, yet he was very knowledgeable and informative on the publishing industry in general. If you’ve ever thought about publishing a novel, I’d recommend the class.

Then there was our kitchen remodel. Regretfully, it’s been a continuing affair. I’m hoping to end it by month’s end because it’s not been a cheap date. And I’ve had just about all I can take. Right now our dishwasher isn’t level and requires two people to load and unload it so that the contents don’t fall all over our non-existent kitchen floor. We ripped the old one out in March and have yet to install the new one.

Next came the travel. I knew how this would affect you but I did it anyway. First it was out to Vegas (for work I swear!), then, the day after I got back, it was off to Boston for the prestigious running event: the 114th Boston Marathon. If you’re not familiar with the marathon, it’s like the World Series of running and the only one you have to qualify for. The qualifying time is dependent upon your age group and gender.  My husband, being a 28 year-old male, is in the fastest age group yet still qualified with time to spare (3:04:04 – I like to brag about him :) ). One of the coolest parts of the trip was the drive through a good chunk of PA to get there. With the never-ending panorama of rolling hills and mountains, it’s hard to mind the 7 hour drive.

And then my four-timing got physical. Oh God I was sore. But I really liked it. The kickball league I mentioned earlier (kickin’ it old school) has started. I had forgotten how much fun team sports are. I may be slightly competitive and may have been strategizing with the hubs ever since our first game.

More to come on all of this. Stay tuned.

Blog, I promise to improve our communication and that I’ll always be there for you. If you’ll have me.

Hey, Hon, I’m so glad you finally updated your blog-I feel like you were cheating on me more than the blog. I didn’t want to be a nagging mom, but it has been a month. Love, Mom.(Happy Mother’s Day-to me.)

      Thanks for reading Ma :)

PS why are you making food for Mother’s Day? You’re supposed to relax and kick up your feet (wearing the new flip-flops you specifically told me to get you for your day).

      Love you!
