Everybody Else is Doing it AKA My Snowpocalypse Pics

February 8, 2010

There’s not much to say about last week’s snow storm.  It snowed. A lot. And with a baby Snowpocalypse on its heels, I figured I should post my pics before we’re blanketed with another foot of fresh powdery white stuff.

This was the very beginning of the Snowpocalypse 2010.  We decided to use our grill before it could no longer be identified it as such. We also played with Dex while he was still taller than the snow.  Yes, Burt is using a flashlight to check our food. Our back porch light might be on a motion detector and might turn off after a few seconds of only slight movement (picture arms flailing to keep it on).

This was the next morning. Recognize the grill? This was just the backyard and it was STILL snowing!

And then this my ridiculously adorable dog burrowing his whole head into the snow to eat it.

After he filled up on at least three head-fulls of snow, he wised up and waited inside while I shoveled the rest for him.

Then I headed out front to survey the remainder of the damage…

Eep! Look at our mailbox! And this would be our COVERED front porch, which turned out to also be covered in snow anyway. Notice how short the tree looks? Oh, our car is the mound in the foreground of that pic. Perfect.

Even more perfect? Our feeble attempts at starting the snow blower. Which hasn’t ever worked. But we crossed our fingers this time. Still no luck.

We shoveled out as much as is pictured before we threw in the towel.  We actually had a good system of throwing the snow on a tarp and then carrying the tarp over to a place we could dump it. Unfortunately, we didn’t think of that until after a couple of hours of shoveling.

So then our nice neighbor with a snow blower in working condition helped us with the rest, which pathetically, was the majority. Finally, we can see a bit of concrete, again thanks to our neighbors. Fortunately, I had stocked up on Naylor wine right before the storm and was able to offer them a bottle!
